The right care based on your individual needs.
Tonya is a registered diagnostic medical sonographer. She joined our practice in 2016 after receiving her Associates Degree in Applied Science of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Tonya is registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
Tonya conducts ultrasounds of hands, wrists, feet and ankles to aid your medical team in the diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis. She also collaborates with the practitioners in ultrasound guided joint injections.
Recently there is evidence that ultrasound detects synovitis (inflammation of the joint lining) that can be undetected on clinical examination. Detection and classification of synovitis and detection of bone erosions are important in clinical decision making. In routine rheumatology practice, ultrasound of the small joints of the hands and feet accurately detects synovitis and allows classification of the extent and activity of inflammatory disease as well as superior detection of erosions compared to radiography.
Labs & Diagnostics
Quest Diagnostics has a private testing location within our office to accommodate only Saint Louis Rheumatology’s patients. This allows patients the convenience to obtain laboratory tests the same day as their visit. Patients may also acquire standing order lab tests at this facility if ordered by one of the Saint Louis Rheumatology’s providers.
